Out riding, Vera Hidalgo comes across the Queen of Swords in battle with Capt. Grisham and some of his troops. Vera goes to help the captain and assaults the Queen with her parasol. During the encounter, Grisham accidentally causes Vera to fall from her horse, causing a serious head injury.

Back in Santa Helena, Grisham tells a distraught Gaspar Hidalgo and Col. Montoya that the Queen was responsible for Vera's injuries. While Dr. Helm fights for Vera's life, Montoya uses the opportunity to get the irate Don Gaspar to get the Dons to agree to martial law to stop the Queen once and for all

When Grisham finally confesses to Montoya that he, not the Queen, was responsible for Vera's accident, Montoya orders the captain to silence Vera forever.

Will the Queen be able to stop Montoya's plan in time, and save Vera from death and Santa Helena from martial law?
